I saw these beautiful figs in Trader Joe’s and I could not pass them up! They make the best appetizer, sweet or savory! This time I decided to slice them open, but not all the way through, then pipe in a Parmesan laced whipped cream. Sounds fancy but it's really easy!

1. Prepare the figs: Carefully slice each fig open, but not all the way through, creating a pocket for the filling. 2. Make the Parmesan Laced Whipped Cream: In a bowl, combine 1 cup heavy whipping cream, 1/2 cup + 1 tbsp of grated Parmesan Reggiano cheese, 1/4 tsp black pepper, and a pinch of kosher salt. 3. Whip the cream: Use a hand mixer to whip the mixture at a medium speed until it forms stiff peaks. 4. Create a piping bag: Cut the tip of a small Ziploc bag and fill it with the prepared whipped cream. 5. Fill the figs: Use the DIY piping bag to fill each sliced fig with the Parmesan laced whipped cream. 6. Arrange and serve: Arrange the filled figs on a serving platter. For bonus points, serve them on a bed of arugula with slices of prosciutto. Sprinkle fresh basil over top and drizzle with some balsamic glaze before serving.
