Simple Marinara Sauce
Serves 410 mins prep25 mins cook
Sometimes you do not have all day to let it simmer, that is why a simple marinara sauce is great to have in your back pocket. Making fresh tomato sauce is second nature to me. It's easy and you can make a batch and use it multiple ways throughout the week.

What you need

tbsp dried basil

clove garlic clove

tsp pepper

tsp kosher salt
oz fresh tomatoes

cup red wine

tsp garlic powder
Instructions
Heat olive oil in large skillet or medium sized pot. Add the garlic and saute until the outside of the garlic starts to brown, about 2 minutes. Add the tomatoes. Remove the pot from the heat when adding tomatoes and have the lid handy as they spatter a lot when hitting hot oil. Return to the heat and stir in the salt, pepper, garlic powder and basil (if using dried). Then stir in the wine. Cover the sauce and let it simmer for upwards of 20 minutes. Make sure to taste it to see if you prefer a bit more salt. Serve the sauce over any type of pasta and crusty bread for sopping up the extra. Have some red pepper flakes handy for those who want to add a bit of kick!View original recipe
