What you need

tsp kosher salt
cup pasta water
cup broccoli florets

lb cavatelli

tsp red pepper flake

clove garlic clove
tbsp olive oil

tbsp parmesan cheese

cup chicken broth
Instructions
1. Prepare pasta: Cook 1 lb cavatelli pasta according to package directions. Make sure to reserve 1 cup of the pasta water before draining. 2. In a saucepan with high sides, heat 4 tbsp olive oil over moderate heat until hot. 3. Add 3 minced garlic cloves and cook, stirring, until pale golden, almost 2 minutes. 4. Add 2 cups broccoli florets, kosher salt, and 1 tsp red pepper flakes and cook, stirring, for 2 minutes. 5. Add 1 1/2 cups chicken broth and the 1 cup reserved pasta water, then simmer for 5 minutes. 6. Zest a little bit of lemon over the top. Taste the broth for desired seasonings. Be careful not to add too much more salt because you will be adding cheese. 7. Add in the cooked pasta a little bit at a time, tossing gently to combine. 8. Turn off the heat and sprinkle about a tablespoon and a half of Parmesan cheese over the top. Mix to combine. 9. Divide into individual serving bowls. Let people top with more red pepper or Parmesan if desired!View original recipe
